reflection

Grey weather and the rain is just the fantastic mix to create reflection on our lives.  Within the last week I have been invited into two families homes to assist with baby massage for those babies who have appeared to have colic or reflux.  As I spend time with first time parents it is apparent the enormous pressure to have everything perfect and in doing so that they try to find the answers in books.  Yes looking up milestones is a different thing altogether but what I am talking about is how people are trying to "deal" with their babies.  Society in someways is so disconected that parents are struggling by themselves to find the answers amoungst so much information overload.  What I have learned in the past week yet again that our children will teach us and show us if we just slow down.   Life is so precious and our children grow so fast.  Today I am reflecting on savouring the screaming on the trampoline, the milo spilt on the floor and the consistant calling out of mum, mum, and the house full of papers and mess, unmade beds and loads of stinky wet washing.  I also am savouring with sentiment these eggs which have been collecting over 10years for the kids.  They all have been gathered from different parts of the world with our children in mind.  The eggs get dragged out this time of the year with Easter approaching.  The eggs always delight and bring about lots of conversation.  As our 3year says, "turles lay eggs." These eggs will be given to the kids when they are older, their own collection.  The imagery of eggs is life, creation and new birth.  I hope to pass onto them when they see these eggs that they too will  stop and reflect on  life and to savour the moment and to get connected to the important people in their lives, to slow down and smell the roses.  Our kids  teach me constantly to stop and savour the good and the noisy.  Savour these gorgeous patterns on the eggs and celebrate the simple things in life like the sounds of jelly crystals being spilt on the floor and the oh-oh that follows, bath water everywhere, laughter and giggles. Thanks so much for a rich life.
