straight paths

We often hear people say that if our life and its journey was a straight path how boring it would be.  And that to have the twists and turns, the up the hills and down in the valley, treading water or the riding the rapids.  Abseiling down cliff faces, and holding on with all our might, walking green meadows with fields of flowers, or navigating flood waters that all of these things make our life interesting and bearable and that we grow from them.
Well when you really look at the image of the straight path, you can get an understanding that yes why would we desire a straight path? Would we be thankful then when we do get a stretch to have a breather and reflect on the ups and the downs.
Doesn't the most ordered person need life's hiccups to make us appreciate the  magnificence of our lives?.  We are so fortunate to have contented lives  and for this very reason we need to celebrate and be grateful.

I am thankful for a beautiful family and friends, my great health and the health of my children, I appreciate the awesome home I have and my creative life.  I adore the realness of my relationships with people.  I am thankful for the financial abundance to give me freedom to dream. I love the straight path when I am on it, and treasure the growth from the orienteering of other landscapes.
